Haridas Vhatkar Tabla #2
Haridas Vhatkar
₹43,168.30
Mumbai based Haridas Vhatkar is one of the most respected tabla makers in India. His drums have been the choice of such tabla maestros as Zakirji, Anindoji and many others. He is known for using only the best materials, and for careful worksmanship that results in impeccably tuned heads (pudi). This tabla has stable tuning and sounds good even at higher pitches. This tabla is a concert sounding drum with great sustain and tone. Since the drum is a Bombay style tabla, the head is thicker and the drum is more durable. These #2 tablas are made of high quality seasoned wood. The tone and sustain is great on this drum and it is a pleasure to play.
Depending on the size of the shell, the head will be best tuned at anywhere from low G to high E. Please inquire for current availability.

The Vhatkar #2 has been great so far. It tuned up to a resonant C# and feels super solid. The customer service here is outstanding. Rishab answered so many questions for me and gave honest, insightful suggestions. The way they pack items for shipping is an art form in itself.

Haridas Vhatkar #2 tabla
Reviewed on Apr 25, 2016
I bought Haridas Vhatkar #2 tabla (dayan) as an addition to my existing pair of tabla which are not by Haridas Vhatkar. I got a D# and the sound is outstanding. But I found it's less forgiving in regard to the positioning of the fingers compared to my previous dayan. People at the Musician's mall are very knowledgeable and helpful. I really appreciate their customer care.

I called at the store and Robbie helped me with my purchase. Since he is a tabla player he helped me choose the correct tabla for me. I was looking for a C tabla. He played each drum and i heard on the phone. Both of us were pinned on one that sounded the best. I still play this tabla.
