Musician's Mall Regular Bombay Tabla Set
Musician's Mall
This tabla set comes with a Neem/Mahogany Bombay tabla (with a good thick strap and nice durable head) and a 2 kilo brass baya. These are the best regular drums we have ever received. After we setup and tune each tabla and baya these drums sound quite resonant. These are perfect as a student tabla set, starter tabla set or a good practice tabla set.
These drums could last you years with only minimal maintenance.
Included with this set are a padded vinyl bag, deluxe rings and covers, and a deluxe hammer: a $110 value.
This price includes a $10 packing fee.

I love the tabla set. I had originally ordered it online to have it mailed in. A very friendly gentlemen from the store called me to let me know that it is available to pick, which saved me a lot of time and money. I'm thoroughly enjoying the tabla set now :)

Good tablas

Before I bought these tablas, I have never even seen a pair of tabla in person. Though I knew I wanted to play them and would practice. I am very happy with my purchase, they sound wonderful, look beautiful, stay in tune and lots of fun to play. The baya has got good bass tone if you stroke it just right and is responsive, as well as the daya. Love them

Happy customer

We were surfing the internet to purchase a tabla set for our son. We checked Amazon and Ebay to find $200 tabla sets. We went ahead and bought one of them. We received the tabla set pretty soon but the tabla had a terrible buzz. We spoke with the Amazon representative and they mentioned that these tabla set orders are fulfilled by Amazon and no one opens and checks the instruments before they are being shipped. I was shocked to hear this. Thats when I returned it and bought another one from Musician's Mall. This tabla set was a class apart from the one we returned. Kudos to the Small business. Would love to visit them someday.

Everything in the set is well thought. From the size of the rings, to the material of the covers to the bag. Experience does matter and they are doing a good job.

Great Sustain - Good Set

Placed an order online. They called to inform me the pitch I had requested was not available. I then co-ordinated with my teacher and gave them the new pitch. My teacher appreciated the new pitch ordered sounded great and i'm very happy with the service. They emailed me the tracking number and received the tabla set on time. Great work.

Way better than I expected

I wasn't sure what to expect since a friend recommended this place to me. They came in tune, to C#, and sound totally authentic. They ship from Berkeley, CA so they are very professional in that respect. If you are a beginner, or even an experienced drummer/percussionist, you should understand that this is not your average percussion instrument. If you've ever watched tabla players live or even on YouTube... those guys make it look easy. I don't want to come off as discouraging, but this is not an easy instrument to play properly and make it sound good in proper time, although you can get some great sounds just "playing around". There is a steep learning curve but once you've mastered that it opens up a new world to play percussion. Hindustani Classical music is very serious stuff. It allows the musician improvisational freedom within the traditional framework. I wish anyone considering participating in this music good fortune on their journey. Enjoy!
