Playing Kirtan on Harmonium

MM Kirtan Deluxe Harmonium
Musician's Mall
R$4,362.37
This is our most popular harmonium. A great value for money harmonium for almost every style of music and level. This is a sturdy, well made portable harmonium with a pleasing tone and good sustain. It folds into a suitcase size box small enough to carry on an airplane. Comes with a free padded vinyl bag.
Folded up it measures 21 1/2 by 13 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches and weighs 25 lbs. It opens to a height of 11 1/2 inches. It features 4 drones (usually C#, D#, G# and A#), an octave coupler and seven fold bellows. It has a "jalli" so you can control the volume. The reeds are voiced Bass/Male and the keyboard has a 3 1/4 octave range - going from low C to a high D.
Also, please note that because these harmoniums are made of pine wood, which is quite soft, minor dings and blemishes are normal.
This instrument differs from our MM Kirtan Harmonium in that the top detaches when opened. And we feel that the opening/closing mechanism on the side is of a higher quality.
This price includes a $15 packing fee. (The packing fee will not be waived for in store purchases due to the sale price)

First Time Purchase - Had Since 2021
Reviewed on Jul 11, 2024
I have had my harmonium now since 2021. It it beautiful, arrived perfect, whole process was easy. Carrying case is sturdy. Actual instrument has held up with me playing almost every day since 2021 and it is now 2024. Still in perfect condition. Has a lock on outside to secure it closed - only thing I have is I do not know combination to lock, so at this time it doesn't lock. I don't travel with it much but when I do I carry it with two hands. I am confident if I reach out I could get the combination and again use that feature. Great purchase worth every penny - I have shared with several friends. If I ever have a need I will repurchase from here happily!

Great harmonium!
Reviewed on Jan 09, 2021
I just recieved my MM Kirtan Deluxe harmonium, and it's absolutely fantastic! When I played it for the first time, I was peasently surprised at just how loud this instrument can be; with both sets of reeds emgaged, it projects a rich and stable tone that maintains an even timbre across loud and soft volumes. When played on their own, the bass reeds have a deep, bassoon-like quality in the lower register, but in the middle and upper registers, they're capable of producing bold, fanfare-esque notes remeniscent of a trumpet ensemble. The second set of reeeds are pitched an octave above the bass reeds, and have a bright, though sometimes rather piercing tone, that sounds somewhat like a mix of saxophone and harmonica timbres. As an added, unexpected bonus, this harmonium also features a set of "bleating" reeds, which emit a wavering tremolo sound, vaguely similar to the vocalizations of a sheep or goat. The MM Kirtan Deluxe features theee drone notes, which were tuned to D-flat, E-flat, and A-flat on the unit I recieved. I was able use the A-flat drone in combination with either the D-flat or E-flat drones to create a chord with no third, which is excellent for improvising in a major or minor scale! On top of its unparalleled sound quality, the harmonium's wood material is very good, the construction is solid, there are no air leaks, and all the moving parts articulate smoothly with no noticable sticking or roughness. The return springs on the keys are strong enough that they don't feel flimsy, but still light enough to allow the keys to move with minimal effort. Also, the unlocking, opening, and unfolding sequence is very satisfying, and all the knobs, handles, and hardware have a delightfully mechanical feel/texture. Overall, this instrument is lightweight, well-crafted, easy to use, and sounds phenomenal. It has so much potential to create a wide variety of sounds, and I feel joyful and inspired every time I play it! 10/10, would highly recommend. Lastly, I would like to give my sincerest thanks to the responsive and very professional customer service team at Musicians' Mall. They were always polite and helpful, answered all my questions, and promptly informed me when something about my order needed to be changed. If I ever need to buy another Indian musical instrument, Musicians' Mall is now my go-to store! Great products, great prices, and great people behind it all. (And before anyone asks, no, I am not a sponsored reviewer or anything like that. Just an extremely satisfied customer!)

Excellent new harmonium

The harmonium arrived in two days shipping! Very well packed with care double boxed! Rishab even took time to send me a basic instruction video with the actual harmonium about to be shipped. It’s beautiful and sounds awesome! I’m brand new to the instrument but I’m excited that I’m already able to play something based on my piano knowledge. Thanks Rishab and Musician’s Mall! I will be back to buy another!

I called in with many questions about a harmonium, knowing very little about music or how to play. Musicians Mall was patient, kind, encouraging and I now have my beautiful harmonium and am thoroughly enjoying learning how to play via YouTube! Thank you MM!

I love this harmonium, its looks as well as its sound. Delivery was very personal, the harmonium was delivered directly to my home in Santa Rosa in person by someone from Musician"s hall, to limit handling and packaging during this Covid-9 crisis. I much appreciate this courtesy.
