  Awesome

I am very happy with this tabla set. It is very high quality, it produces great tone, and I am having a great time learning and practicing. I can’t stress enough the quality of the drums, and how nice the skins feel. P.S. This is my second set, the first I bought from amazon. If I could go back in time, I would buy this set from the get go. My amazon set caused frustration and made me feel like I would never progress, because the drums were low quality and probably detuned while sitting in a warehouse forever. I highly recommend this set and Musician’s Mall, they were easy to contact and also went out of their way to call me about the order while preparing it during the covid shutdown. Thank You! Thank You!!! This tabla set is awesome!

Updated - Very happy with service and the Somnath set

So I had ordered a set of these Somnath No. 1 set. The issue of the 2.5kg vs 3kg was explained and sorted out. Missing hammer was a packing error and MM sent one through. No hassle at all with customer service which is why I wanted to put up a 5 star review. The Dahya is hold the E scale i requested. The Baya is settling in well. I am very pleased with Musician's Mall and the somnath set. I will be using these guys again.

  Almost everything I expected

Overall I am pleased with my set. The Somnath #1. set arrived well packed and in safe and sound condition, pretty much as shown in their packing video which I really liked. The thing that causes the 4 (~4.5) rating for me... The description on the page (https://www.musiciansmallusa.com/1-somnath-tabla-set/) stated a 3kg Baya, but a 2.5kg was sent out to me. Not the end of the world. I selected this set for the 3kg baya as well as the renowned "heavy" skin build of Somnathji's daya and baya. The baya is ok and working well for me, but I really wanted the 3kg. The build quality of the skins is great, and the inks (syahi) are well made on both. The baya tone is sharp and consistent. I asked for a D or E tune. They sent the Daya tuned and labelled at D sharp. and it's holding D sharp. I'll try MM again in the future.

  Beautiful sounding Somnath tabla

These drums were worth the wait. They sound beautiful -- the Daya has a lovely strong ringing voice, and the Baya is quite responsive which is important since I have not developed much stamina yet. I am glad I opted for a set from a well respected maker.

I've been playing tabla for 25 years. Usually I purchase my tabla directly from tabla makers while in India. But, the set of Samantha tabla that I received are top notch very clean sounding and well made. They have allready lasted me 5 years and are a standby set I use regularly for studio and performance work. I'm looking forward to purchasing more.
