I have a lot to say about my purchase. I was looking at sitars because I am a beginner to the practice, but my ears are not beginners. I have been listening to sitar music for a very long time, and I know what sounds it needs to produce. To begin my studies, I wanted to buy a student sitar, and looking at this particular model, and listening to the YouTube video about this model, I couldn’t really hear the chikari. I contacted the musician’s mall and explained my concern. I am a bit surprised by this, but they made another video for me and played the instrument briefly to let me know that the instrument was very responsive. My instrument came tuned to C#, but with my guru, the instrument was re-tuned to D, and you can imagine the responsiveness of the instrument. I am a big chikari fan, so my chikari strings sound heavenly. The instrument is a wonderful instrument, easy to handle, and very well made. A few perks came with the instrument. The packaging was extremely well done. It took over 30 minutes to unpack, and not a scratch on the instrument. My sitar came in a bag specially made for the sitar. The packaging included some paraphernalia as well. A full set of extra strings, a bunch of mizrabs, and a tuning tool for the tarab pegs (sympathetic or resonance strings). I have been playing for about a week and working scales with this amazing instrument and about in love. The instrument is fully decorated. Overall, a big thank you to the musician’s mall team for exemplary customer service. They gave me exactly what I wanted. If you are planning on beginning your Sitar journey, please start with the musician’s mall. They gave me the best start I could ask for.

    Worth the money

Even though there were delays due to docking issues, I have to say I love my sitar. I like how camel ivory is used instead of plastic and the decoration is lovely as well.

I am so glad I chose this Sitar and this store! The communication throughout the buying process was deeply helpful and I really felt they had my best interest in mind and weren’t just trying to get the most money out of me. If you are looking to get into Indian classical music you have found your starting point. May your musical journey be beautiful and deep!

Received my first sitar today. VERY well packed for shipment and arrived with no concerns. Great pre-shipment technicial setup by the crew @MM. I really like the full decoration, angurpata design! Seems well constructed and has a very pleasing sound for an entry level instrument. Also, the padded gig bag is of a much better quality than I expected. I look forward to many joyful hours of studying and learning to play it. THANKS Musicians Mall.
