Jeff Whittier

Jeff Whittier began his formal study of North Indian classical music in 1971 with G.S. Sachdev. He plays in the gayaki ang — the style drawn from Hindustani vocal music — and he is as well known for making the bansuri as for playing it.
Across a forty-year career in flute-making his instruments have gone to some of the most widely known musicians in India, among them Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia. They have also been played in the Broadway productions of The Lion King, Aida, The King and I and Miss Saigon.
