Product Description

The dotar was originally a folk instrument, played mostly by the Bauls, wandering minstels of Bengal. The folk instrument is held and plucked like a small sarode, but has only a few strings ("do-tar" literally means "2 strings"). This version, made by Hemen & Sons, is basically a small sarode. It has 4 main playing strings like a sarode, 2 chikari and 11 sympathetic strings. It is about 36 inches long. Many sarode players use a dotar as a sort of "traveling sarode". A form fitting rexin case is included.

This price includes a $15 packing fee.
